In the fast-paced world of meetings, and digital overload, finding balance can feel like chasing a cloud sometimes. That is especially so for professionals between the ages of 30s to 40s who are juggling multiple priorities. What if I tell you the key to a better work life balance is easily accessible. It is in your playlist.

You can harness the power of music to enhance your productivity (Chamorro Premuzic, 2022) That will empower you to have more time for your family, friends and personal time.
Movement is an essential component of who I am. Perhaps it's because I'm an extrovert or because I used to participate in a modern dance group at school. I'm not the type of person who can sit down and work for hours on end.I'd probably doze off haha.
Generally, I don’t like WFH days but I do like the freedom it provides for my little musical break. Whenever I feel that my brain is ‘stuck’ or my energy is lower, I would stand up and have a little musical break. When I’m working in public areas, I would groove with the music and let my fingers do the ‘dancing’.
DJ Your Mood! Choosing the tune that represents how you Want to feel, not where you are. Achieve:
Better work balance More time for family, friends and the things that are close to your heart
Better focus for higher productivity.
Boosts creative thinking skills (How Music Helps Us Be More Creative, n.d.-b) Music helps to give me a fresh perspective in complex work situations and have a ‘Eureka’ moment.
Actionable steps:
To combat the post lunch food coma, I would work standing up for a while and play music with more upbeat tunes.
I use jazz or classical music for better focus.
On days which felt overwhelming: I chose songs with soothing rhythms like those from Corrine May.
My playlist includes:
It’s a new day by Danny Gokey
Let go by Aodhan King
Songs from FM Kiss 92

Let me know if it works for you? Let music be your motivator or release whatever you need in the moment.
